Same sex intercourse has been legal since 1979 and Spain was the third country in the world to make same-sex marriage legal. This is a result of the very positive LGBT rights and culture in Spain as a whole. Being gay in Sitges, like Barcelona and Madrid, is just another very normal part of society and no one notices the many gay couples walking around hand in hand. We have travelled to many ‘gay friendly’ destinations but Sitges and many places in Spain take this to the next level.
